It’s a six-month, “mid-year resolution” program where users can get help from a dietitian and a personal trainer all for FREE. Experts say six-months are sufficient to see results and to change habits for the better and to achieve the healthy weight and body people have always wanted by the New Year!
“We want Californians to know that they can pick up where they left off in the New Year to get fit,”
says Steve James, CMPB executive director. “This program is giving participants a second chance to get involved in a community of people who have the same interests and aspirations to be healthy and fit. With the right foods like milk and the right counseling from key nutrition and fitness experts, online users of the blog will be that much closer to achieving their goals.”
Starting today until Jan. 12, 2011, GOT MILK? is challenging Californians to log on and become members of the GET FIT WITH GOT MILK? blog. Users will receive tips from Mary Barbour, a registered dietitian and member of the California Dietetic Association and Holly Holton, a certified personal trainer and the owner of Pink Iron Women’s Gym in
Every week, the blog will be updated with nutrition and fitness tips and videos. There will be recipe tab and a journal section where users can log their daily fitness regimen and food intake as a way to track their overall health goals. Every other week, online users can also participate in live Tweet chats with the Barbour and Holton so that they can receive advice from the coaches.
According to a recent study in The Journal of the American Medical Association, nearly 34 percent of Americans are obese. Experts say the key to healthy weight is following a well-balanced meal plan made up of protein-rich foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and dairy, which includes low fat or nonfat milk as well as an active fitness regimen of 30 to 60 minutes daily.
