Shake What Your Mama Gave Ya!

Have you ever looked at your best friend and wondered why she always looks fabulous in a dress that you never dreamt of wearing? Or have you ever been curious as to why some people tone up faster than others even though they follow the same workout program?

There is no doubt that we are all born with different body types: ectomorph, mesomorph and endomorph. The formula to reaching your fitness goals is to gear your training and nutrition towards your body type to see maximum results.

WHAT DOES YOUR BODY SAY ABOUT YOU?

Ectomorph:
* Tends to be naturally thin, higher metabolism, tall and frail
* Has trouble gaining weight and building muscle

Recommendations:
* Heavy weights should be used when training
* Rest between sets should be between one to three minutes
* Cardiovascular exercise should be kept to a minimum at moderate intensity
* Diet should be higher in calories, consisting of clean unprocessed foods with plenty of nutrients

Gwyneth Paltrow is an example of an Ectomorph Body Type

Mesomorph:
* Athletic build and gains muscle easily
* Easily loses and gains weight

Recommendations:
* Must weight train and eat correctly to keep body fat at a desirable level
* Should perform consistent workout training with medium to heavy weights
* Keep shorter rest periods in between sets
* Change up workouts often to shock the body
* Cardio should be alternated between moderate to high intensity
* Diet should consist of clean unprocessed foods paying attention to portion size
* Eat small meals often throughout the day

Jessica Biel is the perfect example of a Mesomorph body type

Endomorph:

* Gains weight easily (both muscle and body fat), but has a hard time losing body fat
* Softer, rounder build.

Recommendations:
* Both weight training and cardio training are very important
* Weight training should be done to build muscle and to raise metabolism levels to help shed body fat
* Lift moderately heavy weight incorporating circuit training and super sets with little rest in between sets to keep the heart rate up for optimized fat burning
* Cardio should be done frequently throughout the week with moderate to high intensity
* Diet should consist of clean unprocessed foods, eating small frequent meals throughout the day

Oprah Winfrey is a good example of the Endomorph body type

Now that you have an idea of what body type you fit into, go out there and rock your workout. Here is an example of an exercise to incorporate into any program that is good for strengthening and toning the core:
