If She Can Do It, So Can You! Get a Hot Bod After Baby!

Ok, so maybe you're not Heidi Klum but you can still get a hot body after having a baby. If you’re a new mom, you are probably still adjusting to your new life with a baby: sleep deprivation, less time to yourself, post-baby body. As the owner of Pink Iron, I meet with many new mothers who are dying to get into their pre-pregnancy jeans almost immediately after arriving home from the hospital.

Getting back in shape after childbirth can be a major concern for many new moms. I’d like to remind you that it took nine months to put the weight on and getting back in shape will not happen overnight. Luckily there are many options that you can incorporate into your hectic day that will help you to burn some calories and tone up.

Mommy-and-me Workout

There are many exercises that are actually interactive for you and your new baby. Check out this week’s workout video where I demonstrate the bridge with baby exercise. This is just one of many exercises that can be done from the comfort of home while you bond with your baby. It will help you to regain strength and tone up your muscle, while still spending some quality time with your baby.

Yoga for Mom and Baby

Check out a list of local yoga studios. Many offer classes where you can bring your baby and get a great workout at the same time. Aside from being hugely popular, these classes will also help you to relieve some of the stress that comes along with motherhood.

Jogging Stroller

Walking or jogging with a stroller has great benefits for new moms. You can get in your cardio and bring your baby along for the ride. I’d even encourage you to find stroller groups in your area for additional motivation. This workout will help to increase your endorphins, your heart rate, while burning calories.

At Home Fitness DVD

Take advantage of your baby’s naptime and pop in a workout video for a fun, quick and effective workout. Make sure to vary it up so your body won’t get used to the same workout every time. Incorporate a cardio workout, a strength workout and even a mat Pilates workout to get a well-rounded program.

Incorporating these suggestions into your week and following a clean diet of unprocessed foods rich in protein, fruits and vegetables and dairy like low fat milk will help you get back into your skinny jeans in no time. But before starting any diet or fitness regimen, always consult your doctor.
